Life: Guest Judge at CU idol
Recently I had the privilege to be a guest judge at the University of Colorado’s annual singing competition CU Idol. Up until this competition I had gone almost every year in school as an audience member, but this year it was so fun being a judge. Of all my times attending, the talent pool in this competition was the deepest I have seen. The winner was a Freshman named Katie McManus, she did two songs which were amazing including an acapella of Lady Gaga’s Poker Face, but to seal the deal she did Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You” and it was flawless, inspiring, and beautiful. That is a song that can expose you if not done well but she just brought it and afterwards she received a standing ovation. All the contestants were amazing and so talented, and I was truly inspired by every single one of them. I have to thank Dawn Borone and Marni Spott of CU’s alumni association for letting me take part in this, as well as CU Herd for putting on CU Idol and highlighting amazing talent at CU, I enjoyed every second of it and meeting so many great people! To all the contestants, keep pursuing your dreams, all of you have to much talent not to, best of luck to you all and thanks for letting me take part in the experience.
